I’m dreaming of a modern Christmas

Well, December has many predictable elements: the relentless Christmas commercials, packed mall parking lots, the countdown to Santa’s arrival, a little rum and eggnog and always a variety of decadent boxes of chocolates. These are all familiar sights and some even bring us back to our childhood memories. One of my favorites was going to the tree lot as a family to pick out our very special tree, loading it on the car, getting it home – but then not being able to decorate it till it had been secured in a stand and left open for 24 hours (such a tease). My parents kept ornaments we made in kindergarten or gave them over the years as gifts with with our allowance. Then there were the family heirlooms. Going back home at the holidays; This is always a happy sight (like wearing your most comfortable shoes). But, now that I am all grown up and can decorate my own place – I love to find the unconventional, modern way to show my love of this festive time of year. Did you know the famous mantra “Less is more” can even carry over to the holidays? How about a simple white tree made of string? Or just simple white branches and monolithic ornaments? How about a tree made of lights alone? Or no tree – but the outline of one made of tape on the wall. This is a great time of year to express your creativity, take a leap! Whatever method you choose to mark this time of year, it really comes down to good times with cherished friends and family. A time of reflection, gratitude and hope. We hope your holidays are filled with Happiness and good health. Love to hear your great ideas, feel free to share. modern xmas
